The spirit of ‘Game of Thrones’ is reborn at the hands of ‘House of the Dragon’: production has begun (and there are photos)

The first spin-off of Game of Thrones is one step closer to reality. It’s been a while since House of the Dragon was first announced , but now, yes, production has begun on the new series set in the universe created by  George RR Martin . This was announced this Monday by HBO, taking the opportunity to share a first image: the photograph of a face- to- face reading of the script that brings together the main protagonists – always respecting social distance.

With the start of production on House of the Dragon , the promise HBO chief content officer Casey Bloys made to us last February has been kept. “They’re getting ready,” he said of series showrunners  Miguel Sapochnik and  Ryan J. Condal , confirming that work on the set will begin in the spring. “They have been writing for a long time and have the drafts for the 10 episodes of the first season in various stages.”

You can see the images of the reading below:

The whole team.

Matt Smith  is Prince Daemon Targaryen.

Paddy Considine  is King Viserys Targaryen.

The Viking bracelet: an award for the best warriors

Emma D’Arcy  is Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen.

Steve Toussaint  is the sea snake.

Set 300 years before the events narrated by Game of Thrones , we can’t count on seeing Daenerys ( Emilia Clarke ), Sansa ( Sophie Turner ) or Jon Snow ( Kit Harington ) in House of the Dragon , but we can count on meeting some ancestors of the Khaleesi. Indeed, the new series is based on George RR Martin’s book “Blood and Fire” and, as such, exudes the essence of Targaryen from all four sides. Apparently, the fiction will address the beginning of House Targaryen’s fall, when a Civil War known as Dance with Dragons occurred among some of its most prominent members.

We will have to prepare to see so many dragons and get to know this famous House of Westeros, very little explored , except for the legends mentioned, in Game of Thrones .
